The Beginnings
God’s vision for us was conceived in the heart and mind of Terrence Autry in April of 1998. Pastor Autry believed that the time was ripe to begin a new contemporary, difference-making, ministry in a down-to-earth atmosphere.
We began with three adult members and initially met for prayer, Bible Study, vision casting and planning in Pastor Autry’s home while searching for a building to house the ministry. In October of 1998, we reached an agreement with Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church to lease its former church facility at 14000 Preston Road.
The Lord continued to display His great faithfulness to us by providing a substantial financial seed to start the church from Pastor Frederick Haynes, III, Senior Pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church, and the Friendship-West church family.
Our first public worship service was held on Sunday, January 17, 1999. Since that time, the Lord has expanded the membership to over 450 active members who are involved in a host of ministries under the leading of the Lord. On April 6, 2003, the Lord moved our worship services to E.D. Walker Elementary School for a period of 22 months. In June of 2005, the Lord blessed us to purchase a 15,000 sq/ft facility, without the need of a special capital stewardship program. All services and ministry activities now are held in our multi-purpose facility at 701 E. Centennial Blvd. in Richardson TX.
On January 8, 2012, the Lord led us to change our name from Eirene Christian Fellowship to Christ Community. The Lord continues to demonstrate His faithfulness in more ways than can be numbered. To God be the Glory for doing exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think.
